ADA Compliance: Mission Statement
Lee County Parks and Recreation Department believes that all individuals should be provided with leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level of ability. We welcome people with disabilities into our recreation programs through specialized programs and inclusion opportunities. We will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination of programs, services, and activities for individuals with disabilities. In order to best accommodate your individual needs we ask that you let us know of any accommodations needed at the time of registration and/or at least 48 hours in advance of a program. Please contact the LCPR ADA Officer, Amanda Gutierrez, CTRS at 239-267-2181 or email for further information on accomodations or program opportunities.

BUSINESS ACCESSIBILITY FORM
Consumer Information
Dear Customer:
In an attempt to promote the civil rights of persons with disabilities through community education on the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), your local ADA Advisory Board of Southwest Florida, in conjunction with the Center for Independent Living of Southwest Florida, have developed three goals for their 2003-2004 campaign.
GOAL 1 – is to “educate business and community leaders about the provisions of the ADA…”
GOAL 2 - is to “provide local businesses and agencies information and feedback regarding accessibility and barrier removal…” and,
GOAL 3 – is to “increase community participation in ADA advocacy efforts.”
As part of these goals, the attached form was created to help you identify barriers to your use and enjoyment of local businesses. Once you have identified your barrier(s) and made suggestions on how they can be fixed, you will mail the attached form to the local office.

They will then forward a copy of your concern to the business owner and follow up to see if any action has been taken. If you wish to have your name included in the complaint, please check the box on the ADA Business Accessibility form.
We believe that by sharing this information with local businesses, that we will be able to accomplish two things: 1) your future ability to enjoy access to their business, and 2) their ability to attract more customers thus increasing their business and employment opportunities in our area.
Please fill out the form and include any additional information you feel supports your concerns. This may include pictures or any supporting documentation. We encourage you to also offer suggestions on how your visit could have been better served.
We hope you will see the value in this and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Together we can make our community truly diverse.
Sincerely,
Rose McGahee, Chairperson
