Capital Improvement Projects

 

CIP Projects for FY 2007-2008

These projects are currently underway in Lee County Parks. They are in various stages of completion.

Schandler Park – Land Purchase, Master Plan development and implementation. Program includes additional parking, looped walkways, picnic areas, shelters, landscaping, maintenance building, perimeter fencing, a water feature, a new entrance to park at Recreation Center, and the closing of Florence Avenue to vehicular traffic.

Phillips Passive Park – Pine Island – Master Plan development and implementation. The program includes entrance and parking facility, picnic area with shelters, path ways through natural areas, interpretive signs, and extensive native landscaping.

Karl Drews Park – Accessible Playground. An extensive playground accessible to all children set in a landscaped area of the park adjacent to the Recreation Center.

Lakes Park – Implementation of the Master Plan with perimeter sculptural walls, gates,  redeveloped entrances off Gladiolus and Summerlin, extensive landscaping, a railroad museum, a splash pool,  a new maintenance facility sited away from the entrance and other public facilities in the park. This project will continue for several years.

Ten Mile Linear Park – Phase Three from Crystal Drive to Colonial Blvd. includes a multi-purpose path for walking and bicycling, shelters, and picnic areas. The project is scheduled for completion in late July 2008.

Terry Park - Master Plan and Implementation – Program includes re-development of parking areas, a courtyard entrance to the playing fields, restrooms, landscaping and lighting.

Bunche Beach – Master Plan development and implementation. The program includes a bicycle/ pedestrian access facility, restroom, redeveloped parking, a kayak and canoe access point, and boardwalk system for hiking the adjacent 2020 wetland preserve. This project will be phased over several years.

North Fort Myers Pooch Park. This accessible project is now completed. It includes off-leash areas for large and small dogs, sitting areas, landscaping, and a water fountain.

Boca Grande Park – This is a renovation of the historic Recreation Center, which offers, meeting rooms, activity areas, offices, restrooms and a library.
