This beach is just past the bridge to Captiva. Parking is limited (fee required), so arrive early! This is a great place for sunsets and romantics. This area has great fishing from the beach and the rock jetty. Swimmers should stay away from the bridge area. The water gets deep quickly and there can be a strong undertow. So stay away from the strong currents and move farther down the beach. The sand quality is good. There are bars and restaurants just back across the bridge. |

This facility is owned by Lee County which was maintained and operated for a long time by Lee County Parks & Recreation. A few years back the City of Sanibel and Lee County made an inter-local agreement for Bowman's Beach, turning the operation and maintenance over to the city. Even though this facility is located just outside the Sanibel city limits, due to logistics Turner Beach was also turned over to the city to operate with the county still maintaining ownership. |
